Information for Candidates

Absolutely nothing! All training costs are covered by government funding and your wages are paid by your employer. Skills Development Scotland are a publicly funded organisation that allocates money and manages the distribution of funds to National Training Providers.

Modern Apprenticeships allow you to earn a wage, whilst gaining an industry recognised qualification. This gives you a chance to learn on the job, make a living, and avoid student debt. A Modern Apprenticeship can be especially advantageous for those who do not enjoy learning in a classroom environment and prefer to try an alternative style of education

However long you take! Depending on the qualification being worked towards, our apprentices usually complete their course within 6 to 12 months.

As an apprentice, you are paid in both money and new skills. The government have a minimum wage in place as a guide for employers for a bare minimum to what you will be paid. Employers will sometimes see this wage as contribution towards training and time invested in you. Just because you are doing an apprenticeship, doesn’t mean your wage is going to be low.
