The Scottish Government has announced a new and exciting Apprenticeship Employer Grant, a great incentive where employers could receive up to £5,000 for every apprentice they take on or upskill between 1st December 2020 to 25th March 2021.
This funding will be available to eligible employers until March or until the funding has surpassed its limit. We are keen to ensure that our partner employers don’t miss out on this additional funding and would love to talk to you about your recruitment and training needs.
The Apprenticeship Employer Grant allows employers access to increased financial support to create exciting job opportunities for young people in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
With this grant being part of the Scottish Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee, it has been designed to motivate employers to take on a new apprentice or to upskill their staff members with an apprenticeship.
The funding includes:
- £5,000 for employers taking on or upskilling an individual aged 16 to 24 through an apprenticeship, and for those aged up to 29 years who have a disability, are care experienced or are from a minority ethnic background.
- £3,500 for employers taking on or upskilling an individual who is aged 25 and over with an apprenticeship.
Applications for this great incentive become available early January 2021 and we highly recommend you apply as soon as this process opens as funding is not guaranteed for every organisation that applies.
For eligible employers, this is a great opportunity to look within your business to see which staff aged 16-24 may also benefit from one of our Apprenticeships, as those apprentices would also qualify your business for grant money.
